Dr. Anand earned his BS (Chemistry) from Loyola College, India, M.S. (Chemistry/Chemical Physics) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai, India, and his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University. His doctoral dissertation mentor was Dr. Elio Vanin, who trained with Dr. Oliver Smithies (U. Wisconsin), Nobel Prize winner, 2007. He did his postdoctoral training at the Salk Institute, San Diego and University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia with Dr. Jon Lindstrom, Trustee Professor, and discoverer of cause of Myasthenia Gravis.
He held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Louisiana State University Neuroscience Center and Ohio State University. He has served on the grant review panel for Brain Canada, Alzheimer’s Association, NIH, Autism Speaks, California Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP), Hong Kong Research Grants Council, Israel Science Foundation, and American Association for Advancement of Science.He has served on the External Scientific Advisory Board for the NERT program, Louisiana Tech, and on the NINDS Human DNA Repository, and Autism Speaks. Dr. Anand has earned the Lieber Independent Investigator Award from NARSAD as well as the Exceptional, Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge
Acceleration (EUREKA) award from the National Institutes of Health for his research. His research has been funded by NIH, Autism Speaks, the Bill and Marci Ingram Family Fund, and the Brain and Behavior Foundation (NARSAD) and National Science Foundation.

Dr. Cruse received his medical degree summa cum laude from the University of Cape Town, the top medical school in Africa and completed his residency at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in Britain. He is a member of several international professional medical organizations and serves on the boards of several startup healthcare companies in three countries.

He is now an experienced commercial manager of multi-site hospitals, clinics and medical laboratories. He is a true “company doctor” capable of inspiring and leading rapid financial turnarounds of underperforming healthcare assets. His speciality is rapid performance enhancement. Focused on producing strongly positive EBITDA in excess of 20% by marketing-driven top-line revenue growth, Peter combines “hands on” charismatic leadership with surgically precise cost-cutting, lean methodology, productivity and efficiency gains. He rigorously uses data, dashboards, MIS, ICT and technology rather than simply employing more people to improve company performance.
As a UK-trained Specialist Histopathologist with an MBA and over thirty years of practical clinical and business management experience, the career of Dr Cruse has successfully combined clinical patient service with senior hospital, departmental and transformational business team leadership positions. He has led or worked in complex multi-site healthcare institutions in both the public and private sectors in five countries. He has extensive, full-time private equity experience of both investment fund raising and deal making. This has included simultaneous start-ups of multiple polyclinics, green-field new hospital builds as well as ongoing management of large multi-site healthcare organisations.
Dr Cruse graduated at the top of his class at High School, Medical School and Business School. He was a national Rhodes Scholar to Oxford University and an MBA gold medallist. With a distinguished career in medicine, he has served as a senior leader in the healthcare industry in five countries for over 40 years. Dr. Cruse has held many senior hospital and medical school leadership positions within the medical community, including serving as the Chief of Laboratory Medicine at several prominent hospitals and as a director of research at several leading academic medical centers in several countries. He has also served as a principal investigator on clinical trials and has published many articles in leading medical journals. Throughout his career, Dr. Cruse has been recognized for his expertise and contributions to the field of laboratory medicine, healthcare management and cancer research. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal Society of Medicine and has received awards for his contributions to medical research and patient care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Cruse is actively involved in medical education, serving as a Professor, Department Head, Chief Specialist and mentor to many young physicians and conducting clinical and management lectures and workshops for healthcare professionals. He is highly respected by his peers and is often sought after for his expertise and advice on healthcare industry issues.
He is a co-founder and serves on board of advisors for the management consulting firm Bigsky Associates since its inception in 2006. He was also the founding Director of the Center for Global Supply Chain and Process Management (GSCPM).
This Center has garnered over $3.5 Million in industry support since its inception in 2005 from firms such as Carolina Healthcare Systems, Coca Cola Bottling, Colonial, Ingersoll Rand, Johnson & Johnson, Michelin, Pfizer, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Siemens, and Textron among others. Dr. Malhotra has also taught at the Terry School of Business, University of Georgia; Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien in Austria; and the Graduate School of Management at Macquarie University, Australia.
The extensive business experience of Dr. Malhotra provides Neurxstem with advice on how to pursue capital acquisition and consider the rewards and risks of investments from VCs and Angels. Quarterly Board of Director meetings allow Dr. Malhotra to weigh in and address business risk emerging from the operational side of the company. Dr. Malhotra helps Dr. Anand with advice to augment his role as the CEO of the business and on strategies for capital acquisition.
Dr. Rungtusanatham, PhD, Professor of Operations Management and Information Systems; Canada Research Chair in Supply Chain Management.
He previously has worked at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, and the School of Business of the University of WisconsinMadison, where he held faculty and various administrative titles. Those included academic co-director of the Joseph M. Juran Center for Leadership in Quality, PhD coordinator for the Operations and Management Sciences Department, academic director for the Chevron Advanced Certificate Program in Supply Chain Management and founding faculty director for the W. P. Carey MBA – Online Program. Dr. Rungtusanatham has expertise in mass customization, quality management and supply chain design. His research articles have appeared in a number of prestigious academic and practitioner journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Decision Sciences (DS), Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education (DSJIE), Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Operations Management (JOM), and Journal of Supply Chain Management. Professionally, Rungtusanatham serves as secretary of the board of directors of the APICS Educational & Research Foundation, Inc. He previously served on the board of the Decision Sciences Institute as an at-large vice president and as treasurer of the Business Process Management Section of INFORMS. He has conducted research with, consulted with, and provided executive training for Arizona Public Services, CHS, Chevron Corporation, Deere & Company, e-Bags.com, E-Source, Honeywell, Intel, LG Electronics, Medtronics, ON Semiconductor, Phelps Dodge, Seaquist Closures, United Technologies, and Zytec. Dr. Rungtusanatham has experience advising non-profit startup companies and will provide advice to Dr. Anand as Neuxstem Inc pursues its commercial goals.
Susan McKay, MS, Susan McKay, MS, worked previously at the Ohio State University’s department of Pharmacology in the College of Medicine with 25 years of experience in clinical research in pharmacology, genetics and molecular biology. She holds BS from the University of Texas and an MS from the Medical College of Georgia and over 20 publications.
She is the technical expertise director for key operations management and technical expertise.
